What is the best time to visit Bali?

Short answerThe best time for most people is the shoulder season: May, June, September and October. You get dry-season weather - sunny, less humid, good surf - without the July-August peak crowds and prices. July-August is the busiest and priciest but reliably dry. The November-March wet season is cheapest and greenest, and better than its reputation if your trip is flexible in shape.

The seasons in plain terms

Dry season runs roughly April to October, wet season November to March (wettest in January) - the same split we cover in when is rainy season in Bali. Dry means lower humidity, big blue skies and cleaner beaches; wet means hot, humid, lush, with short heavy downpours rather than all-day rain. Bali is 8 degrees off the equator, so it is warm year-round - this is about rain and crowds, not temperature.

Why the shoulders win

May-June and September-October give you nearly the same weather as peak season with noticeably fewer people and lower villa prices. Surf is working, the island is still green from the rains (in May) or getting there, and restaurants and studios are busy enough to feel alive but not overwhelmed. When to think twice

July-August: go if that is your only window, just book early and expect Canggu traffic and beach-club crowds. Nyepi (Balinese day of silence, usually March) shuts the entire island down for 24 hours including the airport - magical if you know, jarring if you do not, so check the date. And a rigid beach-every-day plan in January will fight the weather; an eat-move-recover plan in January will not.
