Questions
Can we pay to be listed or to move up?
No. A place on a ranking or a position cannot be bought: there is no paid placement, sponsored slot or "premium listing", and there will not be one. Booking partners pay a commission only on completed bookings made through their Book button; the partnership is labelled on the card and never moves a venue up or down. Venues that belong to our editor are labelled "our studio" wherever they appear and are kept out of the ranked lists. If someone offers you a place on The Ten List for money, it is not us: write to info@thetenlist.com.
How do we get considered?
Be findable and honest about prices. We need a live website or a published address we can place on a map, and a public rate card, menu or booking page with current prices. Then email info@thetenlist.com with the venue name, the area and the link; we add you to the long list for the next quarterly review of that ranking. We do not promise a place or a position, and we do not tell you when a ranking is being revised.
Why does our card say "n/a" for price or rating?
Because we could not find that figure on your own website or booking page on the date we checked. We never copy prices from other guides. Publish the price on your site, tell us where it is, and we update the card with the date of the new check.
Can we use the badge?
Yes, if your venue is currently on one of our rankings. Pick the ranking below, copy the code and paste it on your website, booking page or Linktree. The badge names the ranking, never a position: positions change and we promise none. Edit the text and the badge is no longer ours; if a venue leaves a ranking we ask it to take the badge down.
We closed, moved or changed our prices. Who do we tell?
info@thetenlist.com, with the date. Closures and moves go to our Closed in Bali tracker so that other guides stop sending visitors to the old address; price changes go on the card with the date of the check. We update within a week and keep the correction visible.
Will you use our photos?
Your card shows the preview image your own website publishes for link sharing, cropped to our card and credited to your domain. If you would rather show a different photo, or none, email info@thetenlist.com and we change it the same day. A photo you send us always takes precedence. Venues without a website preview have no photo until they send one.
How does a venue get on a ranking?
- Be open and findable. We need a live website or a published address we can place on a map. A venue we cannot locate independently is not listed, however good it is.
- Publish your prices. We print a price only when it stands on your own site, menu or booking page, and we date it on the card. If it is not published we write "n/a", and a card full of "n/a" rarely ranks high. Publishing a rate card is the single most useful thing you can do.
- Tell us you exist. Email info@thetenlist.com with the venue name, the area (Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu, Sanur or island-wide) and the link. You go on the long list for the next quarterly review of that category. No reply means no promise, not a refusal.
- Expect a visit by script. Once listed, your website is fetched every week; each card shows the date it last answered. A 404, a lapsed domain or a closure banner moves you to the Closed in Bali tracker after a human check, with your replacement named.
What do you ask of listed venues?
- Tell us about changes within the month: new prices, new address, a pause, a closure. One email with the date is enough. We update the card and keep the date.
- Do not quote a position. Our badge names the ranking and never the number, and we ask the same of your own posts. Positions change at every read; "number one" in July is a false claim in October.
- Photos: your own preview, changed on request. A venue card carries the image your website publishes as its link preview, credited to your domain. One email replaces or removes it; a photo you send us takes precedence.
The booking partnership in full
A venue can add a "Book" button to its card on The Ten List. Guests book through The Ten List and pay you directly, as today. For the first 3 months you pay us nothing and give our guests 25% off; from month 4 you pay 5% of your listed price on completed bookings and keep giving our guests 20% off, so you always keep 75% of your price. No exclusivity, leave any time with 30 days' notice. The partnership is labelled "booking partner" on your card and never changes your position. Full terms and the one-form acceptance: Booking partner terms.
Places are never for sale
Nobody pays to get on a list or to move up. Booking partners are labelled and keep the same position.
The rule in full
Nobody pays to be on The Ten List and nobody pays to move up. There is no sponsored slot, no "premium profile", no commission that buys a position and no agency that sells access to us. The two venues in which the editor has a business interest are labelled "our studio" and never counted in a ranked list; a script refuses to publish a page where that label is missing. We say this plainly because the rule is what makes a place on the list worth having: a reader who knows the list cannot be bought trusts the venue it names.

Get the badge
For venues that are currently on a ranking. Choose the ranking, copy the code, paste it into your site, booking page or Linktree. No script, no tracking, no dependencies: one link with inline styles, and it works in any site builder. The link is a normal link, because the ranking is editorial and the badge states a fact.

Rules of use: the badge carries no rank position and no star rating; its text is not edited; a venue that leaves a ranking takes the badge down. We may ask for removal if the badge is used in a way that misstates the ranking. Questions: info@thetenlist.com.
