Seminyak or Canggu: which should I stay in?
What Seminyak wins
Comfort and convenience. Five-star beachfront resorts, the island's densest walkable strip of restaurants and shops, established beach clubs, and the shortest transfer from the airport. It suits couples, honeymooners, shorter trips and anyone who wants things easy and hotel-serviced (Bali Holiday Secrets, Breathing Travel). The trade-off: it is pricier for resorts and dinners, and feels less local.
What Canggu wins
Value and lifestyle. Private pool villas for less, a deep cafe-coworking-gym-yoga layer, surf beaches, and a social digital-nomad energy that makes longer stays easy - our home turf, covered in our Canggu guides. Trade-offs are real: the worst rush-hour traffic in the area, black-sand surf beaches rather than pretty swimming ones, and main strips that stay loud late.
The easy tie-breakers
Short, comfortable holiday or a honeymoon: Seminyak. Working, surfing, staying two weeks or living here: Canggu. Undecided and it is your first trip? Either works, and you can day-trip between them - see where to stay in Bali first time and Canggu or Uluwatu for the wider map. Families wanting calm, swimmable water should weigh Sanur or Nusa Dua over both.
