How we choose: we took the surf schools Google Maps returned for our search within about 30 km of central Florianopolis, kept those rated 4.4 or higher with at least 40 reviews and still open, one per brand, and ordered them by a review-weighted score. Three of the five are at Barra da Lagoa, a sheltered beginner beach on the east coast; one is in Campeche and one in Ingleses. None publishes lesson prices online. We built the list from Google ratings, reviews and the places' own sites, not from visits, and no place paid to be listed.
