Bali Q&A

How much does a spa treatment cost in Seminyak?

Short answerA 60-minute massage in Seminyak costs 170,000-200,000 IDR at the street-level rooms on Petitenget and 350,000 at the boutique spas (KOYA's flat menu is the clearest: every 60-minute massage 350,000, every 90-minute 450,000). Named treatments and rituals run 550,000-850,000 (TERRA's lulur 550,000, Mello's copper gua sha 650,000, KOYA's two-hour rituals 850,000, Prana's shirodhara 750,000), and the resort spas start at 880,000 plus tax for a three-hour ritual at Alila and 1 million plus tax at The Legian, topping out at 1.9 million for a package at the W. Entry packages at the mid-tier rooms sit at 310,000 (Spring, Re Massage). Those are the published prices of the ten Seminyak spas we rank, re-read on 16-17 October 2026.

The ten Seminyak spas behind the number

Every spa here is on our ranking of the best spas in Seminyak. "Entry treatment" is the cheapest named treatment the spa publishes; "++" means tax and service, usually 21 percent in Seminyak, are added on top. KOYA's menu was re-read on 17 October 2026; the rest on 16 October from the spas' own lists or, where a spa publishes nothing, from named 2026 guides as noted on the ranking.

Nine of the ten publish at least one price. For a plain hour of massage, only three publish a number (170-200k, 350k, and 350k inside KOYA's flat menu), which is the Seminyak pattern: the spas sell rituals with names, not hours with prices. The spread from the cheapest published hour to the dearest published package is 11x.

Four price tiers on one strip

Seminyak has a spa every hundred metres and the same sign outside most of them, so the price is the only reliable signal of what is behind the door. There are four tiers and they do not overlap much.

Street, 170,000-200,000 an hour. Rooms like Kimberly on Petitenget: a curtained bed, a competent Balinese massage, open until 11pm, no ritual, no tea ceremony. This is the same product as a 200,000-280,000 room in Ubud, and about 30 percent cheaper than Ubud's mid-range, because Petitenget has more of them per metre than anywhere else on the island.

Street-plus and boutique, 310,000-450,000. Re Massage's 310,000 Sun Reliever and Spring's 310,000 sunset package are the entry tickets; KOYA's 350,000 flat hour is the clearest price in the whole district, because it applies to shiatsu and deep tissue as well as the gentle options, and the room is open to 11pm. This is the tier most visitors actually want and most guides forget to price.

Named treatments, 550,000-850,000. TERRA's lulur scrub, Mello's copper gua sha, Prana's shirodhara and KOYA's two-hour rituals. You are paying for a technique, a product and 90-120 minutes, not for the building.

Resort, 880,000 plus tax and up. Alila, The Legian and the W. Here the "++" matters: 21 percent on 880,000 is 1,065,000 at the till, and the W's 1.9 million package is a half-day, not a massage.

What moves the price, in order of size

  • Tax and service. The single biggest swing. Street and boutique rooms quote inclusive; the resorts quote "++", which in Seminyak means 10 percent government tax plus a service charge that takes the total to about 21 percent. A 1 million "++" treatment at The Legian is 1.21 million.
  • Duration and format. KOYA's 90 minutes is 450,000 against 350,000 for 60, so the extra half hour is 100,000, cheaper per minute than the first hour. Prana's three-hour Sun and Moon at 1.435 million is 478,000 an hour, which is the resort hourly rate in a non-resort building.
  • Treatment type. Facials cost more than massage at the same spa: Spring's facials run 425,000-700,000 against a 310,000 package; Kimberly's facial starts at 110,000 against 170,000 for an hour of massage, the one place the order flips.
  • Address. Beachfront (The Legian) and Petitenget-north (W, Alila) price as resorts; Jl. Drupadi, Jl. Kayu Aya and Seminyak Village are boutique; Petitenget's southern stretch is street. Walking two hundred metres can halve the bill.

Is a resort spa worth three times the boutique price?

Sometimes, and the question to ask is what you are buying besides the hands. Alila's 880,000 plus tax is a three-hour ritual, which at the till is about 355,000 an hour; KOYA's 90 minutes at 450,000 is 300,000 an hour. That gap is small for the pool, the garden and the beachfront room. The Legian's 1 million plus tax signature treatment and the W's 1.9 million package are different: you are paying for the hotel, and if you are not staying there the hotel is most of what you are paying for.

The honest middle is the named ritual at a boutique room. TERRA's 90-minute ritual at 600,000 or KOYA's two-hour Koya Journey at 850,000 give you the long format and the product without the resort surcharge. If the point of the afternoon is to lie down for two hours and be looked after, that is the tier; if the point is the address, book the resort and do not pretend it is about the massage.

Not for

Three readers should skip Seminyak's spa strip altogether. If you want the cheapest honest hour on the island, Canggu's Yogi Spa in Nelayan publishes 70,000 and Sanur's Leha Leha 215,000; Seminyak's street floor is 170,000 and it is a plain room at that price. If you need treatment for an injury rather than relaxation, none of these ten is a bodywork clinic; Bodyworks and Jari Menari are in Seminyak and on our island-wide massage ranking, which is where we send that reader. And if you are booking late, two of the ten have disputed closing hours (Prana 8pm or 9pm, Spring 7pm or 9pm depending on the guide) and Prana's old web domain now resolves to a gambling site, so book those two by phone and ignore the search result.

Booking, paying and tipping

KOYA and Kimberly run to 11pm, the widest hours on the strip, and both take walk-ins; the resort spas and Prana are appointment-only and the resorts will ask for a card to hold a booking. Cards are accepted at every spa above 300,000; the street rooms prefer cash. Tips are not inside the "++" service charge in practice: 20,000-50,000 IDR handed to the therapist is the Seminyak norm, more for a two-hour ritual. Deposits are unusual for a single treatment and normal for a package.

Prices here are what the spas publish and we read them on 16-17 October 2026. If a desk quoted you something else, tell us through the Ask box below and we will check and correct.
